What we're dealing with here is a total lack of respect for the source.

    Give us a source.

Can't believe this OP until you give us a link. I would imagine at least 500,000 go through the gates of Croke Park alone every year which is 10% of our population..

    From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sports_league_attendances

"Horse racing in Ireland: 1,447,245 racegoers attended over 319 meetings in 2006, with the largest single meeting is the Punchestown Festival inachieving a record 85,000 racegoers, up 10% on 2005."

"GAA: attendance at GAA championship events in Ireland in 2003 (including both Gaelic Football and Hurling and) was 1,962,769."

"The highest attendance ever for a club match in the sport's history was 82,208, which filled Croke Park in Dublin for a Heineken Cupsemifinal between Irish rivals Munster and Leinster on May 2, 2009."

Six Nations, Heineken Cup, International rules also feature high up on the lists

So in other words the OP is wrong or making assumptions because I googled the exact thread title and the only thing I could remotely find close to it was indeed this thread.
