Wood Flooring

I am currently doing up my house. Its over 30 years old and needs some TLC. I used to work laying floors over 7 years ago so I'm not up to speed with recent developments with wooden flooring (IE engineered?).

Could anyone give me some recommendations on the best place to purchase wooden floors (I don't mind traveling up north) and the types to get for a hallway(needs to hard wearing with traffic). I have plenty of experience fitting floors so that shouldn't be a problem.

    Thanks in advance.
