    Hi all,

Looking for a club within reach of the city centre that trains in the evenings in jj 2-3 times a week where I could learn and grade for belts.

Also being a complete novice at jj and training 2-3 times a week, how long would it take to achieve a blue belt?

Much thanks in advance for your replies

assuming JJ is meant to be BJJ
If it japanese jiu jitsu i dont know.
it would take anywhere from 1-3 years to get a blue belt i would say, depending on your natural learning talent and how good your teacher is, aswell as how your coach grades you too.

i know blue's in 1 club that are better than purples in another, no names so dont ask.

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

I like the username. There are some great clubs in and around the city, which side of the city are you on?

Does Cork even classify as a city. . .:P !!

Yes I meant Dublin City Centre! I'm moving to Ranelagh in the next month but I have a car so somewhere commutable from there would be ideal

Id actually get the idea of a blue belt out of your mind for the time being, theres a good few stages of white belt to get through before you'd even be able to grade for a blue, and its tough going..Average time would be 1.5 years i guess but depending on your ability and your dedication it will take anywhere between 1.5 year and 3/4 years.
Most of the guys who have gotten blues in under 1.5 yrs will have been at it at least 2/3 times a week and picked it up very quick.. Your aim for now should be to nail the basics down (sounds easier than it is), can be very frustrating at the start..

    + 1

The last thing that will be on your mind when some big cu*t has their weight bearing down on your chest is the colour of the piece of cotton wrapped around your waist.

Just focus on learning the art & enjoy it!

    To say the very least
