Back a few months ago someone posted a link to a great self defense site.

Unfortunately I forgot to bookmark it.

It had a lot of info about how to avoid dangerous situations like checking as you enter car parks for people loitering and recognising places where you would be likely to get attacked.

I get the feeling it may have been a poster called Jon that posted the link but I can't recall.

Anyone able to help of got any good quality resources?

    It may be http://www.nononsenseselfdefense.com/

.. I recomend this site to all my students and it doesn't conflict with anything I've learned in Bujinkan martial arts (or in life)... Its quite funny too!

    www.gutterfighting.org

V good info, v easy to underrate, v much to be gained by reflection on what is context of the info on here, HOW it was developed & WHY -> referring origins of, the situations & experiences what, where, how, & how through later experience/lreal life live tested situations the material & training was amended & upgraded based live feedback where it work or failed(others provided the feedback on who it failed for, as they were eerrr unavailable in a permanent way, through constant feedback on what worked or did not work, and read it it helps putting egos or what is "best" aside.

What is "best" re self defense is what worked at that specific moment for any person in defending themselves (lets refer to civilian situations), so allow escape or stun attacker to escape (assuming you cannot avoid, or run).

So if you faced a violent psycho on the street & scared fearful (guaranteed regardless of what self defense exp or who "victim' is) & potential victim froze with fear, shaking with adrenal dump and on "dump" theme a misplaced fart caused potential victim to soil their pants in massive revolting stinking way, with splatter running down to shoes lol, & smell revolted attacker so much, he ran off retching, or out of horror shouted "Ya dirty smelly prick" & not wanting ****e on his hands, ran off.... Then That was the "Best" technique....

Perhaps I am being metaphorical in the "more ****e than underwear" example..

The best technique is what works if one is attacked & managed to escape or do "Best" technique attacker to make an extra sec to escape blah blah at that particular moment, & since we do not know usually when where or what sort of attack etc.. there is no way of predicting.

Do good strike based things with contact like Thai Boxing, Kick Boxing, (point flashy tournament gear is not kickboxing. the full contact kick boxing is what i mean) or boxing. Get a few Geoff Thompson DVDs & train it, & the
www.gutterfighting.org offers a few "add on" dirty tricks... get your mental balls up, & seek to avoid or run always.. that is the best conclusion I have come to.

Less is more too, 2 or 3 nasty strikes which sit nicely on top of the strikes you train in say muay thai.. like a black n decker drill.. you just change the drill bit... work wonders. too much bollixology today in the self defense world, there are some excellent instructors, the BS level has gone through the roof these days...

Any old buds, please link to me on facebook, as this is 1st time in long long time I posted on here & shall not be back much, people still arguing same stuff over and over.. go train will ya!! stop trying to predict what ya cannot predict..

80% of krav maga is full of ****e too... and no one can dispute me saying that. ;-)

Learn to hit & forget what the speculation..

a badly skilled under trained punch is a badly skilled under trained punch be it an irish one, an american one, an israeli one, a martians in the moon punch..

them hardly lads from places like Achill Island who work construction & horse blocks & cement all day, wear no coats in winter, & drink about 30 pints a night & smoke 80 "Major" a day... now that is a punch I might rate as being in a league of its own heaped with a the "ignorance has not failed me yet" bull thick attitude.. them boys pack a wallop & no BS debate LOL!!! :D

As Paddy C said once re a bit of time working on the doors, to me one day at a Muay Thai session re rows on street... "ah... a good kick in the arse does the job"!
