    Hi All,

I am just about to do a flat roof for a balcony on the back of the house. What is the best way to do this. Should it be bitumen with a lead flashing?

Any help on this would be appreciated as I don't want to mess it up. Thanks

I'm afraid your post doesn't make sense. Bitumen is not a finish for a flat roof. Lead flashing...yes if it is needed at upstands of where the balcony meets a wall, etc., The right type of finish for the roof will depend on the shape, area and orientation of the balcony. eg., an upside down type flat with a finish in paving slabs might be good but wont suit a north facing balcony or a small area. Synthetic skin finish is good but will the balcony be taking any point loads or furniture?, this type of roof won't suit that.

I think you should ask around and get a good Architect/AT/Engineer with experience and get their advice, hands on. There's plenty of us out there..:)
