I did enjoy this. Really well done in places although I felt it kind of ran away from itself towards the end.

Didn't read the book so only basing the story on what was in the movie.

Dont really rate Jullianne Moore but Clive Owen was pretty cool as usual

I also enjoyed it when it came out. As far as I remember there were plenty of plot holes, acceptable for a futuristic sci-fi in my opinion, but an enjoyable film nonetheless.

Didn't think much of this to be honest

Loved it, England always makes a great Dystopia and the whole thing looked great.

And the cast could have been a little better!? Apart from Clive Owen who makes a great put-upon leading man you have an amazing supporting cast: Julianne Moore, always watchable, Michael Caine in great form, Chiwetel Ejifor deserves to be a star and after Clive Owen would be my choice for James Bond, one of the best character actors working today in Peter Mullan and probably my current favorite actor in Danny Huston. Its a dream team of a cast!

I watched it 3 times when it first came out in the cinema. Every now and then I would re-watch that 6-minute sequence during the battle on youtube. It really is some feat.

Fine film, great detail and atmosphere, it appears to one of those filums you either get or don't. The IMDB reviews are interesting, some seemed to want lots of explosions at the end! They are idiots.

I found it average throughout, but it had a really excellent last act which saved it for me.

Chiwetel Ejifor was outstanding in Serenity as a cold blooded operative

I'm a big fan of dystopian films (although this was more of a "chase film" than a "dystopian film") and I remember being really disappointed when I saw it ... coupla nice set pieces but far too many plotholes and contrivances, shoddy performances (personally I'd have strangled Kee and Miriam rather than helped them), a lot of potential that wasn't realised ... I wasn't surprised to find out it was written by FIVE different people (excluding the author of the book).

People in our cinema laughed out loud when the soldiers paused during the Bexhill riot/firefight, knelt in front of Kee and the baby but made no attempt to stop them, then carried on!

I remember reading a user comment on IMDb which said "this film made me hate babies"

    But I think it needs a re-watch, I've mellowed somewhat since. :D

It's a great film by a director I rate highly (Alfonso Cuarón: I also love Y Tu Mamá También and he directed the only half-way decent Harry Potter film). Also a great cast all round - Clive Owen is a great lead and the support is universally fantastic.

Some wonderful long, uncut shots. Not just the battle scene but the car chase where
    Moore's character gets shot
, and the scene where the woman gives birth. So much better than the supposedly great long shot from Atonement.

In the long shot shoot out, anyone spot Clive Owen's yellow or white ear plugs ? If I recall you can visibly see them when he's ducking behind something and the camera is behind him just before he enters the building. Just goes to show that most if not all of the explosions that were going off were occurring in real time.
