Who can become a priest?

I don't know whether this task has been discussed before, but I thought it would be interesting to hear some opinions on what kind of qualities you expect a priest to have?

How do you want your parish priest/pastor to be? Can anyone become a priest? If not, why?

I have myself sometimes thought how it wold be to be a priest, and I'm not really sure... So it would be interesting to hear your opinions!

I would say a man who more than everything else wants to serve Jesus Christ with his whole being. Someone who zealously desires to spread the Gospel and win souls for Christ. And a man who has a great love for Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

I think a genuine vocation is very important. Time for proper discernment is vital.

I think you have to study for seven years.

Check online, there would be prospectus' just like and other college.

It looks like you are provoking us to tell you what you want to hear . You need to try harder :P.

You have to be willing to sacrifice the largest chunk of your human instinct. I'm not sure from your post if you're considering becoming a priest, but would you be willing to become celibate for the rest of your life?

Well, a priest will need to be convincing. And if catholic, male as well.

"convincing" meaning he should be capable of telling a few little white lies when the need arises.
