Wii games for young Kids

    Hi,
My 4 year old son loves Super Mario Kart, he's very good at it but he's itching to try something new, I bought him the Wall-E game but it's way too hard (I'm struggling with it myself).

I'm not too familiar with the kids games and was wondering if anyone can recommend anything that is a bit of fun and not too difficult.

He likes the golf and tennis too, I'm thinking along the lines of the LEGO series of games (never played any of them so I have no idea what age group they are for), I saw an ad for a fireman game a while ago, where you use the Wii remote to direct a fire hose but I can't find any trace of the ad or the game.

Finally are there any good educational/fun games out there puzzles, maths, spelling etc that would be suitable for a 4/5 year old.

    Thanks for your help.

Whatever you do don't buy any educational games. They are always ****. The same with any of those mini game compilations like the awful Carnival Games.

The lego games are a great place to start, the lego star wars, batman and indiana jones games that is. They aren't that frustrating since you can't really die in them but the main thing is they are just heaps of fun for all ages and have a great multiplayer co-op mode. I'd recommend Mario Galaxy but I think it might be a bit too advanced for a 4 year old. De Blob is another excellent game that he might enjoy although I think again too complex for a 4 year old.

I'd say that 4 years old is quite young for a lot of games, even those aimed at kids. The lego series is a good place to start for sure though, Im sure he'd be able for those.

Warioware Smooth Moves possibly but maybe not enough happening to hold a 4 year olds interest.

My 7 year old nephew loves it though!!

Rayman and the ravin' Rabbids 1 or 2 would probably be good too.

Thanks for the replies, he's really enjoying the Golf, tennis, bowling and Mario Kart, I might give the LEGO Batman game a go for a bit of variety.

Rayman and the ravin' Rabbids looks bonkers from the TV ad campaign, I have no idea what it about though, is that aimed at younger or older kids?

I've ordered Mario Party 8 from thehut.com, anyone played it? It looks like good fun.
The Mario/Nintendo original games are usually pretty high quality.

You could try De Blob - the gameplay seems simple enough and it's very bright and colourful, not to mention great fun. You should be able to get it reasonably cheap too.

It's a series of minigames but unlike the games I warned you about they are actually loads of fun and completely bonkers. It's a game any one of any age can understand and enjoy and is a good buy for a 4 year old.

My little boy loves all the Lego Games, he cleared Paper Mario & near finished Mario Galaxy.....he is 5, he loved Rayman Rabbits, also Mario Tennis is quite good as well as Mario Party 8.

Lego Batman has puzzles that would be quite hard for a 4 year old. I would recommend starting with Lego Starwars Complete Saga and then the Indiana Jones. The Starwars one is great value for money, he will play it for a long time, the Indiana Jones is shorter but just as good.

Super Paper Mario would also be good, my son played that at 5, I just had to help with the reading and there is a lot of it!!

Have a look at the Wii shop also, you can download games there fairly cheaply and there is another Mario Kart there (Mario 64 I think) and some platformers that might be suitable.

I agree, you really can't go wrong with super mario world or to a lesser extent the old sonic games.

Super Monkey Ball is my 4 year old's current favourite, but he also likes playing Wii Sports, Wii Play, Carnival Games (Yes, I know its a poorly made abomination but he likes it!). Zelda WindWaker, Finding Nemo and Cars for the Gamecube are other ones he plays. Mario Party 8 is good if you have a few kids/people playing but watching the computer controlled players take their turns is dull as dishwater.

One game to avoid. Cosmic Family= Worst game I have ever seen (even including Carnival Games)
