RIP OFF BANKS SPENDING OUR MONEY

:mad:Finally have to get this off my chest. Anyone in the Swords area as furious as me. Pass a new branch of Bank of Ireland every day which opened in February, long after the recession started. It's an enourmous brand new building, cost the earth I would imagine and IT'S IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. That is, it's across the road from Dardistown Cemetery, up the side of the airport and there is very little commercial and almost no residential customer base there at all. Can you imagine the amount of customer money ploughed into this place which I would imagine may see about ten customers all day, who all have to make a special trip out to it as it's IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. Who gets to decide things like this and how can anyone justify the creation of jobs which are completely unsustainable. Can you imagine sitting there all day every day waiting for customers to come in and give you something to do.
Of course, if anyone knows different and this bank is a hive of activity 9-5 every day, please enlighten me and I will get off my high horse on this one!

Most bank branch staff have very little dealing with walk in customers. - In fact, banks prefer not to have too many walk in customers and make you do everything on the net or over the phone.

My guess this branch deals with all the businesses in the area (huge numbers of places in all the industrial parks on Santry road) and personal banking for those working in the area.

As for costs - land there was always quite cheap, building costs would not have been huge, so it is probably more cost effective than having a small branch in the centre of santry & a hell of a lot easier to park outside.

Okay, fair enough. But if everything is done over the phone, why such a big branch? Surely telephone Banking 365 is done from a central office?

Anyway, I think it's ridiculous but there may be very valid reasons for it and it may make itself pay for all I know.
