Ex-GF issues

an ex that i keep in touch with has been having major problems of late. we broke up because she moved country, and i still love her for who I remember her for being, but her last BF of two years has put her down, physically beat her, and cheated on her. she talks at me like she still loves him and cant live without him, yet she is old and wise enough to know better (24 years old).

she occasionally says stuff like she wishes she still lived in ireland, coz we would be married and sh!t like that, but i kind of hate the person she has become. I never was into women that conceded everything to their guy.

one last thing: the new guy in her life was HER COUNCELOR before they started going out. I know this has several different versions of professional abuse, but what do I say to her? for two years I said I dont approve. for two years I said that I will properly lose my temper (cannot say here how much here) if i ever see him.

but, the final piece of info. I do not like who she is. I ignore her on msn and the like because I dont want to speak to her to hear her go on about how great "he" is, and how much she hates herself for loving him. I just dont need to hear it. we probably would have been married (i figured leave her go, if it was to work it would work) but I cant, as much as I try, forget about her. I'v been in a relationship for the last two years, so its not like im lonely or anything but I still feel strange talking to her.

Please, PLEASE. any advice is welcome.

You don't like the person that she has become. She wont listen to sense.

It's unfair on your current girlfriend to keep up ties to someone who is saying you should be married. Cut ties and move on. It's what I'd do anyway if I were in your situation.
