Symantec User Session message at start up?

Everytime I turn on my computer and log into my profile "symantec user session not responsing" or something similar comes up on my desktop. Then it says "A program caused the program to stop working. Windows will close the program and alert you if a solution is available". I just ignored it but it's happend only the last couple of weeks with my laptop. Just tried to download My PHone Explorer [from another thread!] and this brings up the same "A program caused...." message. Just wondering does anyone know what's up. Will scanning for a virus do any good?! It's really annoying because there must be something that's stopping the MPE thingy from working, and it's hardly coincidence that same message comes up already!!
