Moving from entry level to middle management in one move

    Hi,

I'm preparing for an interview for a middle management position in a company where I currently hold an entry level position. For financial reasons, I undersold myself at the interview for the entry level position so I would be assured to get the job, which I thankfully did.

I've been waiting for the correct job spec to come along that suits my particular background and such a position has become available. I've worked hard in the entry level position and have made a bit of a name for myself. I'm confident of doing well in an interview, however I do worry about a perception from senior management that I may be trying to run before I walk because of my current position. The traditional path would be entry level, then lower mgmt, then middle management and so on. Does anybody have any advice on how to field this? Is this a kind of move that is typically resisted in commercial organisations.

The interview is not for the position of son of god, btw.

IMO, for what it's worth, tell them exactly what you done and why you did it.

You were sooooo eager to join their organization, that you were willing to work there in a position well below your qualification.

Go for it - and best of luck.
