Root Canal/Dental Work in Galway

    I suspect I may need a root canal as I have pain in a molar that was re-filled last year. As I was just made redundant, I'm very nervous about potential cost. Has anyone had a root canal procedure in Galway recently that was reasonably priced? Last dentist I went to was quite pricey and really pushed unnecessary cosmetic procedures so I'm reluctant to go back Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    You're best off going to the North and looking for cheaper quotes there than you can get here and you can make a weekend of it
    There's a Dental Issues forum that may get you better info

    had one done, albeit 4 years ago. Not being used to the Irish system (coming from a German system where these things were free), I almost keeled over when I heard the price. Close to 800 Euros it was. You can offset some of it with the Med1 form.

    Depending how urgent it is (mine was so acute, I barely made it to the dentist in Galway for pain), try and go up north or anywhere else...

    Look into getting the medical card as well.

    Got a root canal 3 weeks ago, cost €425. I had enough PRSI stamps to get some money off. I know if you're unemployed there's a scheme too.

    Citizens' Information Board has more;
    http://citizensinformationboard.ie/publications/providers/booklets/entitlements_oversixties/publications_entitlements_oversixties3.html#8

    If you ring the dentist, they can check your status and give you a quote. If like me, you keep putting it off, it'll just get more expensive!

    I've been to PauL McCabe in Oranmore a couple of times, lovely guy, last root canal cost €850 but got a 42% refund with Med 1

    I would recommend Madeleine OReilly on Father Griffin Rd, very caring, not Celtic Tiger pricey, & will refer where appropriate.
