Carlow Politics and Representation

The indo today reports that local hospitals are to be downgraded if a HSE plan goes ahead. http://www.independent.ie/health/latest-news/acute-hospitals-face-downgrade-by-hse-1749791.html

It just got me thinking about Carlow's political representation and if people in Carlow contact their TD's and if so what kind of response they have expierenced.

I have contacted Mary White and MJ Nolan on some issues and while MJ Nolan has never replied Mary White has always replied and been honest in those replies too.

Not looking for a political debate here, just looking to see how people think Carlow is Represented and what expierence they have had.

Iv actually had to contact both in the past:

MJ completely ignored my attempts and White sent a generic reply (obviously from one of her aides) that was of no help.

So I would characterise our representation on a national level as severely lacking.

Mary White will listen to you when she needs votes. When she gets them then you will be forgotten about. MJ Nolan will at least listen to you.

Umm Have to say exact opposite is my personal expierence super-rush, MJ Nolan since elected has never listened as where Mary White has and I know she has raised issues I brought to her at a commitee she is involved with.

I might give MJ another go but I have contacted him 3 times recently and not received a single reply. His brother Enda lord rest him was by far a much better politician.

I'm wit super-rush on this one. MJ even setup a meeting with me to talk over the issue's I wanted sorting.

He could not get it sorted in the end. BUT he did try at least.

Let's hope Carlow come up with better candidates next time than non-entities like Nolan and White. They are shocking in my view, definitely two of the worst in the Dail and that is saying something.
Before the last election we had nothing but publicity from White locally. Seems to have dissapeared when she actually got in there. She obviously got what she wanted i.e. big salary and job. She has totally failed Carlow-KK in my view. What happened to her big plans for a biofuel plant here. Complete rubbish and vote getting. I am very very dissapointed with her, has delivered SFA since she got in..

As for MJ Nolan...the living dead springs to mind...

During the dark days of the 80s, We had The Sugar Factory, Lapple & Braun at full tilt.

What replaced them here in the meantime?
Answer; McJobs, in shops/ hotels, etc..

Obviously, political representation in our area has been seriously lacking in the last 30 odd years.

Time to vote in some new faces methinks.

    Totally agree!!

The Sugar factory was such a loss in my opinion, it actually makes me angry even thinking of the sell out FF allowed with that. All those good jobs wiped out and so many spinoffs down the line through the farmers, transport etc.

How is Braun ticking over these days? Imagine 1300 people in there at one stage. Is there even 300 now??

Have to agree with Niall here.
I was involved with FF in the Carlow area for some years and after becoming very tired of hitting my head against a brick wall with MJ Nolan I decided to give it a rest.
I may return when we have a decent TD in the county.
I never had a reason to contact Mary White so cant commenct there.
I did however have reason to contact John McGuinness a few years back and while the response I received back was a generic one I received NOTHING back from MJ Nolan.
I have always used my vote down through the years but I am seriously thinking that while I will use my right to vote I may spoil the vote.
We have no representation here in Carlow to look after our interests in the Dail.
