Dublin Airport- lack of baby/toddler facilities

    Hi,
I flew from Dublin airport recently with a 2 year old and noticed how they have no baby/child friendly stuff. We flew back from Faro and they had a special area for toddler, large baby changing area, play area in deperature lounge etc.

I'm sure it wouldn't cost much to install a few bits but I guess any 'free' space is used for shops, restaurants, duty free- e.g. money generating stuff.

I also found this good article. Obviously not all of them would be implemented (even though there's no reason why not) but even a few, like-
Play areas after security for children to let off steam before they board the plane are a godsend for parents. They could be educational or themed to foster imaginative play. Examples could be a mock airplane and control tower, climbing structures, a baggage-claim slide or an interactive play area where kids can explore structures, "fly" planes, "handle" baggage and "direct" air traffic themselves. Younger children would need a padded baby and toddler area. A good example of such play areas can be found at Imaginosity in Sandyford.

    Cheers,
    pa.

They are building a new terminal in the airport at the minute so I assume it will be far better fitted out than the old one. The old building is due to be refurbished so they may well be waiting till then to fit some mod cons. Bit silly I know that there isn't anything BTW

On a more serious note I think that Dublin airport is not a nice place to be for anyone, never mind kids. The only thing I ever do at this stage is just buy a paper and a pint and try and forget where I am until it's time to go.

Didn't they just refurbish part of area A (iirc) and it's all shops, no other facilities. Can't even get free wireless sure.

When we travelled with a little one , we had to change her..... we asked one of the pink shirted people .

The only place ( which they escorted us to ) was the toilets in what was left of the pier C .

Now I think of it however the toilets on the lounge floor above pier B has baby changing tables .

I concur with the poster who says that DUB is not a nice place to be full stop.

Ditto. My travels have taught me that there is an outrageous lack of public amenities in general in this country.

    totally true.

Driving down to Kerry from Dublin, a drive we do about once a month , there are only two family friendly places to stop , ie places to change little one if needed.

    grrrrrrrr
