Is this littering?

I NEVER litter. When I'm out and about if I have any rubbish that needs to be disposed of I'll wait until I find a bin, or if I'm in the car I'll just leave it there until I get home and then fcuk it in the bin.

I was out earlier, eating an apple, and when I finished it I dropped it beside the base of a tree along a roadside. After all the apple is biodegradable and will go back into the ground. As I dropped it though it occurred to me that I'm leaving myself open to being accused of being a dreaded 'litterbug' !!!

What do ya'll AH fogies think about this??

Well if everyone threw their apple butts/banana skins away the place would be a mess. Next time wrap it in a tissue until you find a bin.

Yes. That biodegradeable lark doesn't wash. You are still throwing your unsightly shit away that will stink and takes a while to biodegrade. I wasn't allowed leave my dead dog in the park.

Who really eats a banana while walking down the road ? How many people do you see munching on apples everyday ?

Yeah, the place would be a kip alright..

Lets get to the core of the issue!

Bring it home, put it on your compost heap, wait until you have some decent compost, go back, put it round the base of the tree, job done!

What about the stick on ice pops. I have often thrown them into bushes or left them by trees, but the are made of wood so I dont see the point in throwing them into a bin where it wont get recycled

Its not in my opinion. If it fell out of the tree and went rotten it wouldnt be litter so why is it now just because someone has been eating it. At home we throw our potato/veg skins etc in fields(our fields by the way not someone elses), they are gone before you know it.

That was quite a seedy thing to do

Balls. If it fell out a tree it wouldn't be considered litter, it would be considered all 'pretty' and 'nice'...i'd be apple to do throw it in a field any day without regrets..

Biodegradable but throw it out of sight
Back of bushes or in with shrubs to get max out of it
But if I was in town - bin, as its all concrete about

Trouble is, as you well know from your pal Jack, throwing apples, and seeds in general, around the place, leads to no end of grief.

Dead babies are also biodegradable, so do you also endorse dropping dead babies beside the base of a tree along a roadside.

No. But I'd wonder about you if you think its OK to go around killing babies and eating them while walking down the road

No need to worry about waiting for it to decompose, some creature will have come along and eaten it overnight.

No problem at all OP. Even the Green Party said this is fine when someone asked on the radio a while back.
