Flying to South Africa

Hey folks, I'm looking for flights from Dublin to Johannesburg on 16th December 2009 and from Cape Town to Dublin on 2nd January 2009. I've checked out a few websites but the prices are very expensive (I know... they won't come cheap).

Anyone got any advice as to where to look for flights or any frequent flyers to SA got any advice?

    Thanks!

Etihad have had some great deals lately. The downside is that going via Abu Dhabi adds a few hours to the trip compared with a UK or Europe stopover.

PS. This should probably be in the Travel forum

Dont rule out going to Heathrow and then onto Cape Town. Much more regular flights, but I dont know if it would work out cheaper overall.

Last time I went there, South African Airlines was cheapest (Cape Town ex London). Cramped, limited entertainment (one shared screen) but with pleasant service and food.

Sometimes, the fares get cheaper closer to the time as the airline drops prices to fill planes.

I flew Virgin on another occasion, seemed more roomy and had personal entertainment, but more expensive.

If flying internally, try and book before you go as it's quite expensive when booked locally.
