Citizen Battery Life

    Hi,
About 7 or 8 years ago I bought a very nice Citizen Navisail Americas Cup Yacht Timer watch. The list price was about £495 in punts. I've noticed that the battery doesn't seem to last very long. I had it overhauled exactly a year ago. It got a full movement overhaul, a new bezel and full clean.
Then today my battery died again. Should I get more than one year out of a battery?

They seem to vary a lot I've found even from the same battery maker. It should last longer than a year, though it would depend on how many of the extra power sapping functions you would use. So someone constantly flicking on the light or running the chronograph is going to see a reduced battery time.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Nice watch, I know it well - with the Stars & Stripes logo on it, right?

Anyway the battery life will vary depending on the particular watch funtions, and of course on how much you use things like the chronograph. An analogue chrono with whirring hands tends to eat up a lot of juice. You could try calling the Citizen service centre and explaining your problem, they'll tell you if it's worth looking at the watch or if that performance is to be expected. the service centre is Calcul in Shannon - 061 472 722.

Technology has come on though since you bought this! The newer Citizen Eco-Drives are solar powered so they never need a battery change.

Trampoline are you affiliated with the Citizen watch company? Your posts would suggest you are. Advice is welcome, shilling is not. If you want official consumer rep status maybe contact Boards.ie Darragh would be a good bet http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/private.php?do=newpm&u=206265. Thanks.

    Hi Garhjw.

If the battery life is deteriorating then an overhaul should help? If you explain the problem to the service centre they should be able to advise you on this. Just make sure they know you want to address the deteriorating battery life rather than just replace the cell.

It sounds like a problem that should be fixable.
