Perhaps they want to exclude people who can't reach the pedals?

After the power max test which consists of wattage increments every 3 minutes until exhaustion. there will be three other separate sessions of wing gate testing. This is for my research project so I am neither ageist or sexist or Dublin centralist anyone who fits the criteria and is interested let me know I'd appreciate it greatly thanks!

Any Vo2max or lactate testing going on at the same time? Might presuade a few more people to take part.

I got the below information for it.
Before inclusion in the study a full medical will be performed by a registered medical practitioner to assess your suitability for inclusion. During medical screening a blood sample will be taken to assess your health status, this will include haemoglobin, haematocrit, white blood cell count and red blood cell count to rule out anemia, sub-clinical infection and hypohydration. Using a standard cycle ergometer, each volunteer will initially be required to perform an incremental test to assess maximum power (Pmax). Each participant will return to the laboratory on three subsequent occasions and complete a series of 10 bouts of intermittent exercise (30s at 120% Pmax and 30s at 40% Pmax), following a 30 min recovery intervention they will repeat bouts of intermittent exercise until exhaustion to assess effects on performance capacity. Between the two bouts of intermittent exercise they will either undergo active or passive recovery interventions. Passive recovery involves 30 min sitting on the cycle ergometer at rest. The active recovery protocols will involve cycling at 40% Pmax for 30 min and performing intermittent dynamic squats on a vibrating platform for 30 min (set of 10 cycles of 1.5 min dynamic squatting on the vibrating platform followed by 1.5 min of rest while seated).
Before and after exercise elements and during recovery blood lactate will be assessed (blood lactate will also be assesed inbetween increments during the Pmax test) and heart rate will be monitored during all exercise sessions. Trails will be separated by 7-14 days to facilitate recovery and where applicable to minimise any disruption to training. During the first visit a full medical evaluation will be performed by a medical practitioner.

If a difference in response between trained and untrained individuals is detected it potentially could influence how an untrained person would go about getting fit. Secondly, if active recovery on the vibrating platform is shown to be more effective than low intensity cycling this could alter post-exercise recovery strategies. Of direct benefit to you, you will receive the result of your haematological assessment outlining your full blood count and will also receive detailed information on your maximum power output (Pmax) and lactate threshold. These data are of importance for athletes in designing and monitoring their training, based on the results of your incremental exercise test you will also receive appropriate training advice. These data and the associated training advice could also be of benefit to an untrained person who intends commencing a regular exercise regime.
