Hi have just been called for interviewer also - salary seems low enough - have you worked out how the expenses/mileage etc will work? Best of luck by the way.

Cant seem to find the original job spec and salary etc on the cso site? It seems to have disappeared

Hi Dave, it has been taken down by the looks of things - found some paperwork - salary is 257 per week plus mileage - called them yesterday re mileage and they weren't too helpful - was told rates had decreased significantly as of late and that I should have all the info!!! Would be great to find someone who has done this work previously to find out how it all works. RV

Sorry been busy and havent had a chance to reply
    Interview is 30 mins
They basically go through your application form asking you to clarify what you have put & give examples of judgement decisions etc
If you kept a copy of your app form have a read through it again and perhaps be able to expand on what you wrote

    Good luck

BTW parking is a nightmare around it
Give yourself time to find a spot

They told me it will be next month before we get feed back from the interview then there is a 3 week training course in September and if we pass that then we will be starting. Never mentioned anything about pay.

hey. just spotted this now. I also had interview nearly 3 weeks ago and they told me that I'd hear from them in 2 weeks. TBH not sure if I'd even do it now as the pay is crap. Did we all have interviews in same place? I thought the interview went well. Lasted 40 mins and was quite relaxed.

Just got word - Passed interview and Number 8 in the panel which will stay in place until 2010
Not sure if 8 is good or bad
Still no word on pay etc

Just found out I got a letter too. Think I was further down the list though as I was somewhere in the teens. Does it say much else on the letter? At the interview I asked how many were being selected and they couldn't tell me. I'm on the dole at the moment and it doesn't make sense for me to give that up for this job as income wouldn't be much more.

hey i got a letter 2. got position 10. So wat next? do we wait till they contact us again? In the interview did they mention a 3 week training course to anyone????

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 115 ✭✭DaveMR

Mentioned to me at interview that training would be mid/end august and start date early/mid september
I guess we just sit and wait as I dont know how the panel system works?
If your "x" position in panel does that mean that they have already offered roles to other people and you are like the "x" reserve if they dont accept?
Also agree that the salary may not be worth losing all your benefits?

Yeah they said the training course should be in september and they also mentioned the business surveys that would take place later. Is there just one panel made for the country or was it divided into regions. Were there interviews all over the country?

Hi I'm new to Boards. I got a letter yesterday also saying that I was at position 8. Even getting on the panel does not mean guaranteed work though it depends on your location I think.

Have a friend who received a letter yesterday to say he had been placed on the panel and has now received a phone call to goto Dublin for training for 3 days at the end of this month.

Hmmm, i agree with ye on the point of pay lads but if the budget later this year goes badly for the welfare then it might be nice to already have a job......

    just a thought.

just out of curiousity on these, has any person previous public sector service and if so, were you told if it would be taken into account as to what point you would start on the pay scale?

when you take into account the income levy plus the public sector pension levy, it will be interesting what the actual take home pay will amount to.

Im from kerry, so it must be the closest location. did u recieve a call last week about the training?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10 sassygirl

No have not received any contact from them regarding training. It might be that they are only training the top 5 on the panel so far maybe.

The guidelines from the Department of Finance are very specific about this. Its a new job. Your previous service will be taken into account for superannuation rights (the CSO is part of the transfer network)- but cannot be used for pay purposes.

Was there any word on whether they were allowed use different mileage rates- or are they stuck with the revised civil service rates?

My friend is also from Mayo and has phoned the CSO and has now been told his training is in Athlone next Wednesday-Friday and then another 2 days the following week with work starting the 3rd week in August.
He is expecting an email today or tomorrow.
