Laptop Issues

So i've been having a lot of problems with my laptop for the last few days. Its a Dell XPS 1530, running Vista, and its not booting into Windows. I've tried a load of different things, but still cant get it working. Just seems to freeze on the Vista loading screen (small loading bad at bottom of screen). I'm assuming its either a corrupt driver or a failed hard drive.

    1. Safe Mode (all types) doenst work. It freezes on crcdisk.sys.
    2. Last Known Good Config didnt work, just freezes on the loading bar.
    3. Tried booting from a standard Vista disc, but it doesnt boot. Also used the Dell Vista disc, which seems to do nothing at all.
    4. I'm currently trying to use a bootable Windows PE disc, which is currently loading at the moment. At least i have the Vista screen with a mouse pointer, so there's been some progress (although Windows PE loads into memory iirc, so the HD could still be ****ed).

    Any other suggestions?

After doing all these tests, can i demand that Dell come and pick the laptop up? I really dont want to have to spend 45 minutes talking to some guy in India who insists on running through the same things i've already tried. It's still in warranty (for another 30 days), so i need to do it soon.

Have you got the boot order right in the bios? Seems strange that it wouldn't boot off the Dell Vista disc.

TRY f8 safe mode, directory services restore mode ,enter.IT fixs basic boot files or replaces them ,or try cntrl f11 when dell logo appears. It restores winxp or vista os .This will DELETE all your mp3s photos data etc it formats the hardrive.
See www.ntfs.com make vista mini bootcd .Enables you to backup all data be4 you reinstall os .
GO TO BIOS set boot order cd/dvdrom is 0 ie cd boots 1st set hd to boot 1 or 2nd boot order.

When booting with the Vista disc that i have, it just brings up an error saying that Windows failed to load, and do i want to start normally, or run the recovery console. Both of those options force the computer to freeze on loading. My boot order is fine, as it boots from the Windows PE disc fine (then freezes at a later point). Its possible that the disc i have is the wrong one, as i had to download a copy from the net after losing my original disc. I've also tried using the Directory Services Restore mode, with no luck, and ctrl-f11 doesnt work on Vista, only XP.

I'll be getting a copy of the legit Dell disc's tomorrow from a friend, and if they dont work, they'll be bloody well taking my laptop back and fixing it for free.
