I have my program done out for my maiden voyage in the world of marathon running, but just when i am happy with it and have it all done out on a spreadsheet...now im going on holidays ( unplanned until today ).

Now,dont get me wrong...i want to go on holidays and i am looking forward to it,but just wondering how it affects my marathon training.

I will be away for week 6 of my 18 week plan.

It wont be a hectic holiday anyway...just sitting by the pool, and chasing the 5yo around the place.

    Options :
I was thinking of starting a week earlier and then just try do 3/4 6m easy runs over there just to keep ticking over.
Seems the obvious choice, but maybe not.

I would be interested in the views of all the experienced runners on here that may have been down this road before.

That early on in the plan and only for the one week shouldn't have too much of an effect on things. Possibly just plain miss that one week out of the plan and then maybe turn down the miles a tiny bit on the week you get back and it shouldn't make a huge difference.

Hey Sosa, great stuff on doing up a plan, the weeks will fly by now. My advice is to make that your easy week and what I mean by that is, the plan I have been given is 3 weeks hard and 1 week easy, so again make that your easy week and it will make no difference at all and enjoy the weeks holiday and don't feel guilty for not running.

Don't worry about it - its so far out as to not make any difference.
If you could get a run or two in to keep ticking over, great, but don't sweat it.

I have a 2 week holiday 9 weeks out from Berlin and I'm not concerned as I have factored it in.
Its a walking holiday, so I'll be keeping active anyway, and plan to get some running in too.

    Hey Woddle,
just after i posted this i checked back onto the program and just noticed that it is my easy week...P & D have me down for a very kind 37m that week...the hol is Fri to Fri...so i will be back to do the Sat and Sunday,
the sat i miss is only a 5m recovery which i can skip, the Sunday is 16m w/10 at MP so i will do that the week before i go.
I reckon i will get 3 x 6m easy runs in over there...
yeah...i'll be grand...the rest will be good anyway.
