Date a classic reg number please?

    Carchaeologist, where are you!:D

    Posting on behalf of colleague. He found some pics of his grandad on a motorbike, thinks it dates from the 50s. Reg no on bike is IR6531 which I believe is from Offaly.

    Could you put a date on the reg please?

    (sorry, don't have a pic of the bike itself, if I get one I'll post!)

    Very hard to.
    I have IR9323 which is June '59.

    AFAIK IR ran from 1903-1960.

    It's definetly the fifties.

    IR4185 was an Irish assembled 1948 Buick owned by the Earl of Rosse.

    It was a Roadmaster and not around anymore as far as I know.

    There is a very similiar car in Co.Clare- '48 Straight 8 Dynaflow.
    IO registration if I remember correctly.
    RHD but in a complete state of collapse unfortunetly.

    IR 6531 would have been registered in 1955. Carchaeologist has Mercedes on his mind at the moment and not concentrating lol lol

    Found a number plate when we were digging at the brothers place white plate red writing and surround..

    That would be an old trade plate I'd say. They used to start
    with 0 and were those colours.
