Testing service

Just wondering, if you were developing a website or designing a website or about to launch from beta to live - would you use a tester on an hourly basis if the rate were quite low?

Would you hire someone with lots of experience (not very technical though) to run a user test and proof read your site and throw a fresh pair of eyes over it so to speak?

Fresh pair of eyes great for catching typos. Tester doesn't need to be technical, almost better if they're not (unless you have a very complex transactional site). Needs to be pedantic, curious and not have you looking over their shoulder....

are you talking bug testing or user experience testing? if it's the latter use as many people as budget allows, and monitor/record their results.

Thinking more bug testing to be honest - thats where most of my experience lies. So proof reading and bug testing.

you should check their testing experience (cv, references etc).
they should also test in different browsers (IE(6/7/8)/FireFox/Safari/Chrome)
and maybe from a mobile as well.

    Do you need someone?
