Wigan Athletic, Portsmouth, Hull City, Stoke City and quite possibly Burnley would make up 1/4 of the Premiership teams?

Newcastle would be playing in the same league as Peterborough United, Doncaster Rovers and Scunthorpe United?

Leeds United, Charlton Athletic, Norwich City, Southampton would all be playing 3rd tier football?

Greece would win the European Championship?

South Korea would reach a World Cup semi final, knocking out both Spain and Italy?

The 3 richest clubs in the world would be Manchester City, Chelsea and QPR?

Real Madrid wouldn't reach a Champions League final for 7 consecutive years?

Wimbledon would have become defunct and it's replacement, run entirely by the fans, would work its way all the way up to the Conference?

Funny looking back on it all, isn't it? Feel free to add your own.

Yeah Newcastle Utd v Scunthorpe Utd who would have thought it. I wonder who Keegan will be cheering on there? Although some things stay the same, didn't Utd win the treble in '99 including the CL and EPL hopefully history will repeat itself.

Liverpool still wouldn't have won a premiership.

Also, a champions league final between a portuguese and a french team

Why is any of the above so weird? You kids have no history!

the weirdest thing really is that United are still the best team in the land. I was just looking back through the history of premiership winners and it really stands out. I don't think anyone would have predicted United to be so consistently competitive 10 years on, afterall Liverpool are the only other club to have had such a sustained period of success and that itself was unusual.

also the similarities are quite odd too... correct me if i'm wrong, but Pool's era started with a win in 72/73 and United's in 92/93. And in just over 15 years they both manage to win 11 titles...

Most important goal in our history. I still think he's gonna miss every time I see it.

thats correct, man utds title successes have mirrored liverpools exactly and well before 1972 it goes all the way back to the start, its beyond freaky, man utd have never won more titles than liverpool, they have always played catch up and always levelled no matter how many liverpool went ahead, this goes right back to the 1900-01 season

    last ten
never expected the same four to take up the top four spots consistently
Leeds to fall so far so quickly
    next ten years
expect chelski to go into recievership and re-emerge as afc chelsea
liverpool to win Champions league but not the league
Arsenal to finish below spurs when Arsne leaves
City to have ten new managers

Tis just one of those really interesting coincidences.

Reminds me of that emails going around in the weeks leading up to Liverpool winning the the CL a few seasons ago about your one from Coronations Street etc.

The arguments to make it an 18 team league seems rather compelling now.

Well it was only 6 years ago that Newcastle had a good manager (Robson) a good team (Shearer, Given, Bellamy, Jenas, Dabizas etc) and had defeated teams like Juventus to reach the 2nd group stage of the Champions League. Even things off the pitch seemed to be stable enough.

To still be a billionaire after this crisis means there prudent when chelsea are delighted to bring there losses down to 80 million last year thats just not a prudent investment

Who goes on to win the Carling cup that season and within 3 years is the captain, most experienced and oldest player at the club.
They play fantastic football but are constantly let down by their 4 year old goal keeper getting lobbed.
