    Hi All,

After replacing the ignition in my oo primera due to the key getting stuck in it I now have a different problem where the stereo wont presumably because of the different immobiliser.

So I know I need a new code which can be got from the likes of below
    http://www.radio-code.co.uk/nissan-radio-codes.html

What has got me confused now is if I give them the radio serial number and get the code will the stereo even work as technically it came from a different car,

The more I think about it the more I'm confusing myself so does anyone know where I stand here.

    Thanks

It should still work mate...you only changed the ignition thats all. Its the same if your battery goes dead, you would have the same problem.

Cheers man, I was just worried that because I have a different key and fob there may be some issue with the Stereo as well.

My thinking was that the code is linked to immobiliser and therefore the key

The stereo and immobiliser are linked.

If it's not working bring it to the place that did the original work for you.

What version of the primera is it: P11 old shape or new >

The P11 new shape radio and CD changer is coded to match the NATS (no radio code) according to the manual. The radio will have to be reprogrammed

    bahhhhh beat me to it!

My dad was changing the battery on his and was worried he didn't have the code so I read the manual and discovered that nugget of knowledge!

It's the facelift 00 P11 model, I was very suspicious that this may be the case.

It was my local mechanic who done the work so I doubt he would have the equipment to take care of the reprogramming.

Aagghh why does everything have to be so complicated!!!!:mad:

Thanks for the advice guys, saved me a few quid getting a code that would have been no use, I might just use this as an opportunity to fit an aftermarket mp3 player now

strange he changed the NATS for a stuck key in the igntion? or was there another reason why he changed it

The radio and cd changer could be reprogrammed, not sure who'd do it but try some car alarm /audio places the very least they'd point you in the right direction could only end up costing you a few bob.
