    Hi,

Just wondering if anybody can help, I am looking to join a golf club in Dublin.
I am looking for somewhere that is really good but doesn't require a joining fee of thousands. Even somewhere that just requires you to pay subs e.g €1000 per annum.

I heard Powerscourt are doing this now (I know it's in Wicklow..)

If anyone knows of any around the Dublin Vicinity the info would be much appreciated.

    Thanks - Gary

I was just about to post the exact same question! I'm awaiting a call back from Powerscourt shortly so I'll let you know what I find out.

Somebody mentioned on here about Carton House having a deal where you could get the rest of the year for 1500 ish. No joining fee. Maybe worth a phone call.

No joy as yet. Left two voicemails and haven't heard back. My Dad is a member in the Curragh and they didn't meet their membership quota for this year and he reckons there are spaces available. That's about a 45 minute journey from Sandyford if it's of any use?

    I'll keep chasing Powerscourt though.

South County offers a lease deal for 1600 per year plus 300 you get to spend on food/drink. Given that we're well into the year I'm sure they'd be willing to do a partial year deal of around 1k from now til next spring. Give them a call.

Ok, just off the phone to Powerscourt and it's not good news. They offer a membership leasing option whereby you can rent someone else's membership for a year, paying the yearly sub of €2,600. Unfortunately because we're half way through the year, that €2,600 would still have to be paid and paid again in January as they don't have a half-year lease.

They have a sort of corporate 5 year lease where you can lease membership for the sub plus €1k + VAT but that's far too pricey. So that's Powerscourt off my list anyway. I might check out South County as it's a decent course.

€2,600 a year just to lease is a lot, similar to Carton House AFAIK

I am in Kileen near Kill, I am not sure where you are in Dublin but Kileen is just a few mins from the N7 at Johnstown

To lease a membership is around €1,300 a year

I'm in Sandyford and know Kileen - very nice course. That's a good price too. Thanks - I'll check it out.

I got Carton for €1,700 back at the start of April.. Normally a lot more I think...

I was out in Castleknock on Saturday. It's a good course and they are advertising for members. Give them a call or check the website.

Yeah they have a deal going but it's still near the 3k mark for a year. I've heard good things about the course though.

AFAIK Tulfarris is giving full membership for 1k, little bit of a drive but seems like good value. Though is there a risk of the club going belly up?
