Book one then check regularly for cancellations. I've seen people here who've managed to get mid June tests recently.

Cheers for the tip.. car is going in for a service at the start of June so figured that I'd get something last June or early July.. but Sept!! Have to get it serviced again before then.

Whats the story with being stopped by Gardai? If I have a letter stating I've booked and show it to them, will they accept it? Has anyone had any problems so far?

Same story with me, but I managed to get 9th of Sep.
I asked the lady on the phone, and she said I should keep the confirmation letter in the car and show to Gardai if necessary.
Apparently since May 1st you can get penalty points for lapsed NCT, so there's been an influx of people applying. Or so she said.

Yeah so I was told too, but I've been told many a thing before and until someone tells me otherwise, I tend to be sceptical about them..

So wondering if anyone who is waiting on an NCT and was actually stopped by the Gardai but had the letter stating they had it booked, was it accepted by the Garda in question?

Same story when I called... The guy on the phone said "sure the letter will do you if the guards stop you, but em.. if they are having a bad day it might not... Sure they know about the backlog, they read it in the papers..." !! Dont hold much hope after that conversation just hoping for a cancellation.
