I have been off the road now since Christmas (the old car gave up the ghost but it had its day 270K miles!). I have €6k put by in savings and I'm in the market now for a replacement vehicle, I'm getting tired with public transport (its very limited in rural Ireland if you didn't know ;) ) Now I won't be doing a whole lot of driving, about 200km/week max. Male under 25, so no family, and I don't mind driving anything big or small, though I do like a diesel. The final part is the crux. I'll be emigrating in three or four months so I'll need something I can offload relatively easily and I'm hoping for not too much of a loss depreciation wise. With this in mind should I just go for a banger? Or suck it up and stick with public transport?
