Its your decision as it is a 12A but personally I don't think a 5 year old should go to a 12A film 8/9 at the most the only reason that 12 was replaced by 12A was distributors and cinema chains wanted kiddies spending there parents money getting into the summer blockbusters.

i think its grand for him to watch the movies with me, just as i did when i was younger i watched these type of movies (which where 18s) when i was a nipper. but i dont want aggro from people at the movies for bringing a kid that age

If he has sat through terminator 1, then there is nothing in terminator salvation (I assume with the pg13) that can possible be worse. (I also had the same treatment when I was young and was raised on terminator, highlander, Robocop, predator and aliens.)

Worse I can think of is it will be sligthly more intense from simply being in the cinema rather then on a dvd player at home.

What cgi laden movies? Its fine, if he's seen the other ones which have more graphic scenes.

Most likely the most intense scenes in Salvation are those covering the skin grafting and stuff which has already cropped up in the previous films with Arnie choppin off bits of himself throughout the entire series.

Sure I had seen some of the Exorcist films when I was his age :pac:

You should be fine, especially if he has seen T1 and T2. If there's any part that you don't think he should see anyway just put your hands over his eyes :P

OP you might find the British Board of Film Classification website useful when assessing if a film is suitable for your children. They also have a seperate sight call Parents BBFC where parents write reviews to indicate if a film is suitable etc. Their main sight details exactly why they give it the rating etc. Example for the terminator movie below.

I saw Saving Private Ryan when i was around 10..
It left me traumatized for like a full on month, but i still love the movie

T1 was pretty violent, if he's seen that then i guess your fine.

    [sound like an aul wan]

Bring him to See MvA or something similar.
Let him have some childhood memories.

& OP, learn to say no to him ... 5yr olds shouldn't be watching T1

I'd classify any Terminator movie as educational and an instructional video. In the world your will Son grow up in, once the technological singularity happens, the skills he will learn from watching this movie will be invaluable to him.

The question isn't whether you should take him. The question is could you live with yourself if you don't? ;)

No reason not to have both? My childhood memories is full of kids cartoons mixed with aliens and killer robots from the future, It would not be unusual to on the same day watch both Aladdin and terminator 2 in the same sitting.

I don't think 5 year olds should be watching films like this at all.
Maybe that's just me. I mean he's likely to see dozens of people being killed, blood, guts etc. But then you say he's seen all the others??
    Weird IMO.

Legally there is no problem with bringing a child under the age of 12 into a 12A/15A as long as there is an adult over the age of 18 present.

And by 'present' I mean sitting in the cinema screen with them, for the whole duration of the movie. Not just purchasing the tickets!

It should also be important to state that it is your choice as to whether or not it's suitable.

I understand, & agree with you on the legality of 5yrs going to a 12/15A film. But there is a moral question too to which thankfully the Censor no longer has a 'Nanny' attitude.

Certification is there for a reason, & as was mentioned before, the 'A' is mostly tagged on for the financial gain & to take the onus away from the state & place it on the parent which they call 'being flexibile'.
