This Garda boat is in Galway for the VOR, does anyone know where it is based as I didn't even know they had such a thing. I would hazzard a guess at Cork or dublin.

Naturally its belong to the garda water unit i would think!

So based on that, i would assume in athlone or santry, thats where the water unit is based(theres 2 units).

More than likely i say they share it and its for events like this!

This is based with the Garda Water Unit in Athlone but is berthed mostly in Kilrush. It can be seen all over the Shannon though. Rearly used. Preference is the Delta RIBs.

Common sense would make you believe that Cork has its own Garda Water Unit but no, even though its the largest Harbour in Ireland.

There is a lot of pics here of AGS Bikes, Cars, Jeeps, Helipcopters, Mobile Canteens but this has to be the cleanest mechanically motorised vehicle in the fleet.
It was parked up in Galway Docks while on support for the Volvo Ocean Race and the crew were cleaning it.

300 x People watching them clean it while nothing else happening.

Hope there is a relief crew and the lads can enjoy their trip to Galway!

We have the customs maritime unit and the Navy instead.....

I believe the Garda boat can be moved by trailer if required. A civvy in cork owns the same type. Hard to see how useful it would be as a police launch. A Pilot boat type craft would be more suitable, however, in Lough Derg and the shannon its probably practical enough.
