    Hi,

Do people generally sign their CV or is it expected?

I would be of the impression that you just sign the cover letter and not the CV.

The jobs being applied for would be child care jobs.

    Thanks for any help/advice.

You can do so if you wish but I would generally just sign the cover letter. If you do choose to sign the cv,make it look professional.
Type your name(if the rest of the cv is also typed)at the bottom and underneath this put a dashed line
like that.Sign your name on this dashed line. This helps keep your signature looking professional and less childish(the line keeps it straight and it looks better than signing your name randomly on the blank surface).
It couldnt hurt to so do.

You don't sign CV's. Why would you?

90% of my cover letters are submitted electronically. So theres no point. You could embed a graphic of a scanned signature, but really its just fussy where theres no need to be.

If it was a paper copy, then I'd sign the cover letter. Thats just whats expected.

I got so used to contracting where you are only taken on, based on your experience and skillset, all you need is a CV. They are not interested in cover letters.

I've never signed a CV. Always sign a hard copy cover letter though.

If you are using hard copies of your cover letter and CV, just staple the cover letter to the front of the CV and sign it like you'd sign a normal letter.
