    Hello all

My dad has recently inherited a pair of antique binoculars.

We know they came from Germany.

They were bought by his uncle (RIP) in the 1950s.

We are interested in any information we can find about them.

    Description:

1 pair of black metal binoculars with a leather neck strap.

They are marked "Photo Kohlroser Munchen 8x30 Weitwinkel"

    Serial number is 27031

Does anyone know where we could find out more?

    Thanks

    Barney & Jim

    Hi Barney and Jim,

what exactly are you looking for? More information on the maker? If they are army issued or civilian?

Also, please do post some pictures of them including any writing, markings, stamps etc on the leather strap and the binoculars themselves. It may help. ;)

    Best,
    Preusse

Any info at all would be of interest, especially any pictures or info on an original case to complete the item.

As requested here are 2 photos of the binoculars, any info greatly appreciated.

I think you would have to look out for the original bakelite cases in auctions and on militaria sites.

Most of the time they come already with binoculars. Here is an example in a recently posted auction for original Wehrmacht Service binoculars (with special coating for -40 Degrees temperatures at the Eastern Front):

    http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280353693149&_trksid=p2759.l1259

It comes with the original case but as you can see it is slightly over-priced!
