Alternative Main Event. Thoughts and interest please.

The Poker Room

Hi,

We are thinking about holding a poker tournament at the same time as the WSOP main event.

It will start on the same day as the last day one in Vegas.
We are looking at a €200 + €20 buy in. (We will supply food.)

Not sure exactly how long it will last may be one or two days depending on Numbers. (you don't have to come back in November for the final table.)

It will be the exact same starting chips and structure as the Main Event.

We will add €500 to the prize pool and will also give away prizes as well.
Tag Heaur Watch and Mini Quad for sure but maybe other things as well.
May also try and get a trip for two to Vegas added as well.

We will have regular main event updates and our event will be covered live on boards with live updates and Pics.

If you have some realistic ideas on how to improve this game or you would like to play it let us know. We are looking at capping the game at 100 players.

Yea sounds good, Instead of the watch, why not have a bracelet and make it a yearly event

Very good idea. When you say the structure will be the same as the WSOP main event you don't mean that the blinds will be 90 mins per level?

Yep exact same structure, blind levels and starting stack.

I also own a store that sells amongst other things Jewellery and we have a Jeweller on staff. I will speak to him about making a silver or White gold
Poker Room Bracelet.

Its a good idea if we can do it right.

OK, i have being thinking AGAIN:rolleyes:, how about a MERGE, lets say you had 150 players in Celbridge and 150 in Tallaght total 300 players, €200 buy in = €60,000 :eek: NICE. So day 1 sees 150 players are playing in both venues, day 2 will see them MERGE in 1 of the venues, and if it gos to day 3 you can swap to the other venue, unlike the WSOP final table, players will not have to wait months to play but you could leave it for the next weekend for the build up, just a thought.:D:D

I think its a great idea and would certainly meet the 100 player cap, but why not making it bigger?

LOL, a come on think of the build up, it would also give players time to get big sponsors LOL, and if your at the final table your in the big money :D

I think you should go even further. Now your ceo is in bed with Fintan of Eglington, why not run 100 player games in Galway, Cork, Monaghan/Dundalk, Celbridge and Dublin then bring all of them together for day 2. It is almost a 'BATTLE OF THE CLUBS' (AND THAT'S COPYRIGHTED and IP BTW) event.

One massive day of poker all over the country. cuminating in day 2 in Dublin.

It is battle of the provinces, inter club championship.

Looks lke we are going to run with this.

2 day ones, on the same day in tallaght and Celbridge. Capped at 250

With day 2 and 3 in The Club in Clebridge

Will run over main event weekend starting on Fri night. (Dates to be confirmed.

30,000 starting chips and 120 minute blinds. We will post the entire event in the next few days.

It should be a fantastic event with money added to the prize pool, a huge amount of play, prizes added to the prize pool and White gold Poker Room Main event bracelet for the winner.

Also live updates on boards inc photos. Also main event updtaes from Vegas.

Will post a new thread soon with complete details.

Thanks for the input and great ideas.
