Gunnera, How do I get rid of it?

I got some Gunnera invading the little garden space I have, mainly coming from the neighbours and becoming a bit of a problem throughout the area. The question is how do I kill it without the use of chemicals?
I tried digging it out but every year it comes back. even the plants cut up and banished to the darkness of the composter seem to thrive.

I find it easy to dig up as the roots are soft and I don't think it seeds hugely so I treat it as a minor inconvenience.
I just cut it as far below ground level as possible with a sharp spade and if it does return it will be much weaker.
