suggest a diesel car for around €13/14k?

a friend is home from overseas, and is in need of a new car, looking for a diesel one. he went into a toyota garage, and the lowest they would go on on 07 avensis diesel strata was 16K.. i told him to walk away. .. so can anyone suggest a good value diesel motor for around 13/14 k? cheers

Good call Tiggs, E39 model yes, but It'll be tight to get the current model 530D for 13 to 14k - second hand private sale maybe for 15.5k upwards.
If he can streatch to 15k, he could get a new model 07 1.8d mondeo
