Head Shaving - Solutions?

To anyone who regularly shaves (wet or other) their head for the full bald look... what have you found to be the best shaving solution?

I generally do this during summer months only. I have found a wet shave with a good Gillette razor to be the best, but I tend to then suffer from trapped hairs that can get infected and result in irritated spots.

So, I'm hoping that there's a decent electric razor out there, preferably one that can be used wet, in the shower? I know this won’t be as close a shave, but need to get away from the hand razor solution.

I have a very full head of thick black hair with thick shaft (Asian background), so it does take a bit of effort to keep the bald look.

    Any recommendations?

I shave my head too but really only get good results from a wet shave. I use the Nivea sensitive foam, and Mach 3 blades. The important thing is to use a new blade everytime. There's a lot of hair to cut and it will get blunt quickly, meaning that each time you use it it won't cut the hair correctly and you'll get irritation spots.

I then follow it up the the Nivea cooling cream, that helps with the skin and reduces any redness and rashes. You should also only shave your head after a shower, when the skin and hair has been softened. The same guidelines for shaving your face really.

I have shaved it a few times using an electric razor; the problem was it took so long and you really can only do it the day after you've shaved it when its really short.

Maybe try one of the Phillips range of electric shavers that have the gel you can apply and can use in the shower.

If you search in the Facial Hair & Hats forum you'll find numerous shaving threads and reasons why multiblade razors can lead to ingrowing hair.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

What OldGoat said, plus there is a special razor for the head - HeadBlade.

I shave my head pretty much daily and have used a wide range of razors
over the years (electric, safety and cartridge to do so).

Treat the head the same as the face for shaving. Proper preparation is
essential. Have a hot shower first, I always use a fresh and clean face
cloth and/or some facial scrub to exfoliate the head before shaving.
Rinse it off and apply some decent shaving cream (I use whatever cream I
am using for my face and apply with a shaving brush). Whilst a good sharp
blade is required there is no need to use a new blade each time. Razors
I use on my head only last longer than the blades used on my face. As
I shave my head daily the hair I'm removing each day is not long and
not dulling a blade as much as facial shaving. My facial hair is also
    tougher and more dense.

I shave with the grain, then across the grain and finally against the grain.
Make sure to re-apply lather between each razor pass to help combat
razor burn. Rinse off the left over lather with some warm water then
a cold rinse to reduce any redness you may have. I then apply witch hazel
    and some balm.

A Fusion or Mach 3 is probably the easiest to use on your head as they
are more flexible than a safety razor.

What length are you letting the hair get to between shaves? I find as long
as I don't let it get too long and exfoliate the head I avoid any trapped hairs.
