I have an older DVD recorder that is currently connected via scart to my HDTV. It has Scart, Component, S-Video and Composite outputs. If I used component would I get better picture quality than Scart?

    Thanks:)

In short yes. Component is the best 'non digital' (as in HDMI) signal. I'd use it set to RGB.

Only if you are not using RGB scart.

Component (YUV or YPbPr) is a mathematical function that includes chrominescence and luminescence with the direct RGB signals to convey the 5 signals over 3 cables (the 5 cables are individually available on the Scart pins already)
