I was browsing around the net, the way you do, and came across a programme I used to watch in the late 90's (I think it was!). Does anyone remember it or did anyone else watch it?

    My So Called Life??

It was like the first type of teenagery drama kind of thing! There was a young Claire Danes in it and a young (but still hot) Jared Leto!!

I'd love to hear if anyone else watched it and loved it as much as I did. I know they cancelled it and I was devastated!

Oh I adored this. I thought Jordan Catelano(sp?) was the most beautiful boy in the world. my whole class in school was in love with him.

I wonder why they cancelled it. All the girls I went to school with watched this religiously!

    Yep,

I watched it too, absolutely loved it! I think I have the "official soundtrack" CD lurking around somewhere :-) Shame it only lasted one season.

My sisters used to love him (as well as that guy from SeaQuest DSV "Jonathan Brandis").... what's funny is that as soon as they stopped liking him... I started liking him, he was excellent in Requiem for a Dream, Fight Club and 30 seconds from Mars are actually a very good band imo.

Never watched "My so called life"... seemed too teen angsty for my liking

Rember this also, a young Claire Danes pre Romeo & Juliet days. Circa 1994-95 i belive, she was a redhead and looked super cute. It was a good show from what i remember, teen agnst et al.

I rewatched this recently with my wife and it has stood the test of time very, very well. The reason it was cancelled was because Clare Danes decided at the last minute she had enough of it and the show couldn't go on without her. She was just 14 years old at the time and really put in a great performance portraying the blossoming from awkward teen to beautiful young woman.

I remember it ended on a cliff hanger. She went off with Jordan, when her neighbour Brian Krakow? wrote her some love letter, but she thought it was Jordan?

Jordan Catalano...mmmmm...the love off my life!
    Poor Brian Krakow...

    Only one season?....how many episodes?

Inspired by this thread i decided to go watch the 19 episode run...and i realise i haven't really seen the show at all. I remeber episodes on RTE2 i belive on a Tuesday at 9pm....but i think i just glanced as i don't remember watching full episodes.

So i watched the first 7 and was surprised at how well acted and written it is, i think the scripts hold up really well and capture alot of what 13-16 year old girls go through, rather realsitic and not OTT.

Claire Danes for a 14 year old is really excellent, the parents also are very well cast and written, i think from reading it seems the MTV syndication and them trying to save the show helped garner it's core fanbase and following to date. You wonder then why MTV didn't commision the season series themselves?

But from what i have seen thus far it's very enjoyable, well written and hasen't aged that much, save for the clothes of the kids.

I remember watching it in the 90s but thinking that is was a bit too serious and teen-angsty. I much preferred freaks and geeks, another high school show set in the late 70s in america. It dealt with the usual teen issues but was quite funny, had a killer soundtrack and starred the gorgeous Linda Cardellini, my no. 1 teen crush (after I got through the Winona Ryder phase!). Again, it only had one season (what is wrong with american tv executives!) and i had to get the dvd of it from the u.s. as it's not available here.

Loved this show - bought the dvd box set Christmas last year - I remember being glued to it when I was 15 and gutted when it ended. I had such a crush on Jordan Catalano/Jared Leto.

Yeah I used to watch it religiously. My biggest memory was Claire Danes. I could watch her all day! Everything I've seen her in since I have good memories of too. Most recent was Stardust. I thought it was brilliant! And Shopgirl, also good. I suppose like the girls posting here she was for the guys what Jared Leto was for the girls. Although I cant help but feel my manliness in question having watched this show. But it's true :o

Don't worry!...it dosen't make you less a man for watching a TV show mainly aimed at girls :) , shing i'm a 36 year-old guy and watch alot of stuff aimed at teens....i even watch The Hills!!

;) i love loads of shows that air on The CW and ABC Family, supposed tweenie demographic, what people fail to realise is that guys AND gals can enjoy these shows regardless of age. Parents loved Toy Story, people like shows for different reasons :)

Thanks Richard for the support. Another one I loved was Buffy The vampire slayer. Apart from the eye candy of the female variety at every turn it was very well written and funny. Joss Wheedon take a bow ;)

Yeah. I thought this was good, but I don't think the writing would have lasted after season one. I brought the weepy, weepy, intelligent, big worded, overtly analytical, melodramatic teenage drama to a TV audience. Only problem with that was the follow on series like Party of Five and Dawson's Creek.

From the makers of Thirtysomething so I am definitely guessing it would have been as good after season 1.

I think it was 1994. No?

    I did like this show.

I watched this all last year when I was studying for my exams, mostly because I was going through my Jared Leto obsession. I really enjoyed it, it dealt well with real teen issues like drinking, sex, homosexuality etc.

Great tv show. Bought the boxset. Cut down too early in its prime and infancy.
