ibook not charging

My Apple ibook won't charge unless I hold the plug into the computer. It's 4 years old and I have heard that in laptops the plug (connector between the laptop and the charger) can become loose after a while. Anyone any ideas where I can get a mac fixed in Dublin? I don't really want to go sending it off to apple ( it is not under warranty anymore). Also any idea how much I should expect to pay? Not gonna splash out a load if i'm better off buying a new laptop
