Nintendo DS Lite problem

When I turn my Nintendo DS on, the green light only stays lit for roughly 3 seconds and then turns off. If the unit is open the top screen will flash when it's turning off but that is the only action from either of the screens at all. I have switched the battery and there was no change. Any ideas?
I know about repairing service in Bray, but they charge most of times for 50 euro and more. I think it's too expensive. May be i can fix it by myself? :o

    Hi there,

One of your screens is more than likely broken.

Does it try turn on like this:

    Power light starts dull green
Power light turns a brighter green
    Then the top screen flashes?

Thats NOT your problem, the Fuses are not gone, i have the same problem myself and have changed the fuses and its still the same(i am waiting for a fix for this)
Look here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OHvspGaiSY, Read the part where it says "The following are NOT caused by Fuses , If your scren (bottom or top) Flash briefly Then goes off , and your charge light works normal.

As i said i ordered fuses changed them , then seen this info on youtube!

Sorry for not replying I didnt see it the last time it was up the top, did you check the ribbon cable from the bottom screen? Make sure it is inserted properly and not damaged (this is the ~ 2cm wide ribbon cable, not the small one)

I cant say for sure what the problem is, (cause i cant remember if I had the top screen flashing before! ) But I had a DS with the same syntoms except it was the bottom screen that flashed and it was the top screens ribbon cable that was damaged.

    EDIT:

Actually I think i did have a flashing touch screen before, its over a year ago so my memory might be playing tricks on me! It was F2 (the gameport fuse) that was gone. Do you use a flash card? R4, DSttt, N5 or other?

Check the battery contacts and clean if necessary using a pencil eraser or lightly scrape contacts until entire surface is shiny
