    Can anyone advise me where I could buy decorative wood paneling for my hall and stairs area. Is it possible to buy ready made?

    you can buy 16 foot lengths of 4 inch tongue and groove panelling in your local builders merchants

    you can also buy pre finished stuff at 8' lenghs which are also available at most providers. the french pre finished stuff looks great.
