I know this is far from a necessity, but i was thinking the other day it might be handy to be able to remove the few seconds of silence from the beginning of a track. I know I can go into audacity etc and open it, trim it, and save it but it takes bloody forever.

Is there a program that could run through and do it automatically? On 90%+ of my tracks there is a strong first beat with an obvious peak in the waveform - so it would not be too difficult. However I know some might not have that and have a slow build up etc which would be hard for a computer to judge - maybe do these manually or ignore them.

    Any ideas?

probably not automatic but for little jobs like that you can't beat mp3directcut

free, miniscule memory footprint and other bits and bobs

as an aside, the1by1 directory player is a great little mp3 player

has your programme got auto cue like on cdjs.
it basically goes to the first bit of audio on the track, skipping those few seconds of silence

Yeah it's a pain cause Torq does not - Virtual DJ used to - worked quite well. Not sure if SSL / Traktor does either.

Lets face it it's hardly effort to push it along a few seconds, but you know the occiasional time when you change your mind last minute and want to throw in a song, if you were able to drop and press play straight away it would be nice...

There used to be a great little free program called Goldwave that does all that editing shizzle. Think it's still about
