Saddle Padding

    is there anything else i can get except for padded lycra shorts to pad my bum? just think i ll find it hard to do too days in a row. or do you just get use to being in the saddle?

    Wear the lycra. It works.

    Wear baggie shorts over them if you have issues.

    More padding (ie big gel saddle covers etc.) does not equal more comfort, if anything it can just create a larger chaffed area. Your weight should be on your sit bones, and they will get used to it.

    If you are sore let your arse recover before getting back on the bike though. Compounding your injuries can get nasty over a few days.

    You'll get used to it.
    Also, your position on the bike might not be correct. Or you might need a different shaped saddle. What kind of saddle do you have?

    If you get baggie shorts, wear cycling specific ones. They usually come with liners and the seam along your weld region will be minimized.

    I bought a cheapish gel saddle. No problems since. Have the shorts but don't always bother with them.
