Just been on the Triathlon Ireland site and see there is a link up to the Mourne tri now.

It seems that it is only a 3/4 distance tri this year (1k, 32k, 8k) and not olmpic distance like the last few years.

Does anyone know if this is true and if so what is the reason for it?

    Thanks.

Also, its not National Series as it has been for the last few years. One thing might be related to the other?

I've no idea what happened but the mail from the organising club about its says "entries capped at 200" this might make it a little small to be a NS race.

No idea why it was shorter - as long as its on the same course it will still be a cracker of a race. Love that run.

Yes, the run is beautiful. Was that hilly bit a full km though (500m up, 500m down)? Am thinking that is the reason for the 8km distance (no hill bit), but maybe its a different course altogether?

This race was a firm favourite of mine, kinda sad to see it change.

It was long enough, could have been close to 250m up, 250m back.
