Here's a challenge for ya!

Big Nasty

I'm looking to pick up a fun car for the weekend but my criteria makes it fairly tough. I have some ideas in my head but looking for inspiration from your guys! The budget is NO MORE THAN €4k!

The car must not be:
Jap
French
FWD
Hatchback

The car must be:
RWD / 4WD
At least 1.8L
Reliable enough to use as a daily
NCT'd

Tough enough I know, let's see what ya can come up with!

What's your definition of fun? If it's not all about speed, how about an MX-5? Or an E30 320i? You might get a good Porsche 924 for that money either?

No Japs Anan. The E30 is already on my list but I would probably go 325. Porsche - now there's an idea I hadn't considered! Cheers!

Sorry, forgot the 'no Japs' clause! The reason I mentioned the 320 is that the 325 is substantially more expensive - you'd probably get a mint, low mileage 320i for within budget. Not as quick though, I suppose.

I like the opening bit on the sales pitch "NO WARRANTY!" just to get things straight from the start, he's got a good point though, an absolute pile of sh!te, even the newer ones were too, I saw a 97 one on Donedeal.ie for 1000 euros, petrol of course, one of the least fuel efficient vehicles I've ever owned, it used to suffer from withdrawal symptoms leaving the filling station and believe me i've had my fair share of lemons.:rolleyes:

Why not look for a car over 30 years old, no NCT very cheap tax, usually easy to maitain and classy, Merc 280 / 300 SL? A cheap Rolls Royce? If you import no VRT. Try the classic car section of ebay.co.uk

sure would , qualifies as a classic because its over 30 so no NCT, 50 odd quid tax and a classic policy...happy days ...........but the fuel , oh the fuel :eek:
