It doesn't get as much coverage as the Giro, but it's going well for Dan Martin - in second, 15secs off Alejandro Valverde

And you can argue that Valverde shouldn't even be riding. Very exciting to follow. Looks like Martin's finding his form again.

Or that he's full of the drugs, so Dan's the moral victor :)

He dropped Valverde like a stone yesterday. Just been looking at the other stage profiles there. Lots of hilly stages, but no mountain top finishes, which means the advantage is with Valverde unless Martin can mount an escape. Even if he held on for second, it would still be a fantastic result. He's still a very young rider and to be performing at this level bodes very well.

Thanks guys. Haven't been keeping in touch with this but delighted with the news. I know he was ill early in the season. Not sure if I would like to see him ride the tour yet as still a bit young but what a talent to look forward to over the coming years.

Since this isn't on TV, I suppose it's safe to say that it ended in a bunch sprint on stage five today and there's been no change in the GC. Martin's still second, with two more stages to go.

Don't forget Nicholas Roche is only 3.46 back in 17th and has consistanly finished top 20 in the stages. All 3 of the Pro Tour guys are showing well. It can only be good for the sport overall here

..and it's a strong argument. Everytime I see Dan on TV from now on, I'll remember him as the winner. Great ride by Roche as well, not afraid to have a go in the gallops.

Yes, I guess the Brits are a little upset at letting Dan Martin slip thro their fingers. They were too busy concentrating on their track riders and didn't realise the talent they had on the road (apart from Cavendish)
Roche always knew he had a better chance of breaking into the pro scene by playing his Irish card.

Roche should have won a stage, he caught a man with 300 to go and they both stalled .. Rookie mistake to be fair ..
