I want to go for a spin around north dublin tomorrow, I was thinking of something like this.

Any comments / other suggestions of nicer routes?

I want to end up in Oldtown, want something around 70-80km and need to stick to main roads so that I can rely on signposts / my printed out googlemaps map!

    Thanks

Up the coast is really nice -- so from lusk village -- head to rush and up to balbriggan way...

just posted this on the Sat spin

Dont know if anybody is interested if I did a route up of say 100km-120km around the backroads and short sharp climbs of North County Dublin-Meath-Louth.There are many cracking laneways around here that can test ya.

The route I usually take when I am up for a longish spin is I start out in
Rush then head through Lusk-Swords-Malahide-Portamarnock-Howth-Sutton-Clontarf then cycle back the same route to Rush

Balbriggan, Skerries, Rush, Lusk, Malahide, Portmarnock, Kinsealy, Airport, St Margarets, Oldtown, Garristown, Naul, Duleek, Julianstown, Balbriggan should do it.

Is one of the recent runs I've done around North County Dublin. Most of the roads around there are good and quiet which makes for some very relaxed cycling. There are also one or two big enough hills around there if you go looking. The route posted has one where I hit almost 70km/h on the way down.

Looks good. Also, you can try the road out of Naul to Harbourstown for another tasty climb! Really tests the legs. Did it a few weeks back and then turned left at Harbourstown where the road climbs a bit more. I looked around and behind me I'd a clear view out to sea, on the right I could see the Cooley Mts and on the left I could see Wicklow Mts :)
