    Hi,
As it says above : I am going to apply for Jobseekers Allowence as my employer has reduced my hours of work. I currently earn 400 euro gross, 371 net. I assume if I will be put down to 3 days per week I will get €240 per week. Does anyone here know if that is correct?

Also, how much does living at home affect your Jobseekers Allowence application? Does it take long to process? I know I'm asking alot but does anyone know what my likely (if any) payment would be??

Very anxious since hearing the news and worrying about money and how things are gonna paid.

    Thanks!

My dad is self employed (a farmer) so its not as simple as weekly income  Anyone know what i'll need to show at a means test for him?

Is the wait for reduced days payment claim the same as waiting on full J.A?? Current waiting times are huge!!

I know no one can say for sure but does anyone think i'd be able to get J.A for reduced days with my income after i'l be put on 3 days??

You'll likely get something, but no, we can't say for sure.

Average weekly income (over 52 weeks) should probably be what is used to calculate your father's income.

Wait times are ridiculous, and that's the truth... but we're in the middle of a crisis right now so I guess that's how things are.

Ah yeah , i know the wait times are mad but with so many people signing on its no wonder there is a backlog of stuff. Sure, they'll get through it eventually i suppose and i hope that by then i'll either be taken back to 5 days or found a new job elsewhere.

Dad will love to hear this now about his accounts!!!

I got this from the link about how to calculate benefit and priv....

"If you have lived elsewhere in Ireland (or abroad) independent of your parents for at least 3 years, benefit and privilege is assessed as €7.

I lived away from home when I was in college - does this count??

Did you come home for the summers?

Did your parents help you pay for college?

I came home one summer so thats that out the window!!

So I suppose my only chance is going in the SW Office when i start on my 3 days per week and see what they say.

For my means test - will they be looking at my parents current accounts or the 2007 accounts (like they were basing my contributions on)??

I've looked at the website and calculated what I would be entitled to (dunno if its right) and it worked out at around €96.00 (thats before Parents come into it) so I doubt i'll get much or anything.

For reduced working hours - is the full maximum payment spread over 5 or 6 days??
