    Hi everybody,

Just looking for re-assurance from the converted, before I bite the bullet. I've managed to source a KRP-500a and have a quote of €2620 including wall bracket and 5 year Pioneer warranty, will probably get another few bob off with a cash payment, so should I go for it, is the set worth it?

    Many thanks.

    hi,

i have the krp as well and its stunning. i have it hooked up to the pioneer lx71 blu ray player and the picture is unreal! i bought the krp when they were first available, paid over 3500, so thats a great price u have there!

i was torn between the lx5090 and the krp but when i compared them both i prefered the picture from the krp. and the better tuners & DLNA in the media box as well attracted me to it

Thanks for that Michael, much obliged. Just wondering how do you find the sets performance on Standard def and motion handling?

i have sky+ and the picture is quite impressive for SD. obviously, some of the older shows on TV dont look as good but the majority of stuff looks great on it. motion handling is great as well, blu rays with 24p and no judder :D

i have the DTT tuned in on it as well and that looks deadly

the guy in the shop said you can also connect a dish to it for the BBC hd but i havent done that yet

    Hi Lazy,
I have a KRP 500A and how exactly do you get the DTT. Aerial etc. Any info would be great.
    To op,
Great set by the way but needs to be set up for different sources carefully. Refresh rates and how it handles video, film material needs to be set up correctly for best performance. Incredible black levels too.

    Hi Lazy,

i set a few of them up, connect an MPEG4 compatible aerial and then set the tv to auto tune. it will allow you to specify what to auto tune, select digital tuner and away you go.

the picture is great from DTT, but it does tend to break up and pixelize quite a bit here in dublin city centre. outside the city is fine, i live in lucan and its perfect there.

    Thanks Big Moe,
I have to pick myself up an aerial and give it a go. I have the sat tuner hooked up and that's handy for BBC HD etc.

I've also just found out that PlayTV now does MPEG4 so that would be dead handy for the Champions League on RTE2 (via PSP). More spending!!!!

I know that DTT in only "testing" at the moment but might be worth the price of an aerial. Any suggestions for a good aerial?
    Thanks,
    Moo

exactly, hopefully when they launch it officially they'll turn up the power and the signal in city centre will be fine!

i work in alliance electric and i use a One For All aerial, we sell them for €20

    Hi Guys,

Just looking at possibly getting a Kuro KRP 500A...

Is there likely to be any issue now that Pioneer have pulled out of the market ?

I am thinking of keeping my tuners etc in a seperate AV room ..

How long is the cable that runs between the media Box and the Screen ?
Is this a proprietary Pioneer cable or some sort of standard type ? and could this be extended ?

    Thanks in advance ..

    Bob

you'd want to get your skates on... We're down to our last few KRP-500A and Pioneer don't know when/if they are getting more.

As regards the cable for the media box, the included one is 3 metres long. It's a standard DisplayPort cable so you can get longer lengths from third partys if required
